You can't visit Florence without experiencing the world-renowned art. One of the most notable galleries is the Uffizi. This houses Botticelli's Primavera, Birth of Venus and many other works of art. It also exhibits work by Rembrandt, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo. This is one of the most popular galleries in Italy and so expect queues. Weekends are particularly busy. It is advisable to buy your ticket ahead of time to skip the queues. You can then spend your time enjoying the treasures.

The Cathedral is another must-see attraction. The Duomo is Florence's most iconic building. Work began on the cathedral in the 13th century by Arnolfo di Cambio. The dome was completed in the 15th century and was designed by Filippo Brunelleschi. It was two centuries in the making.

Many of the cathedral's treasures have been removed and are now housed in the Grande Museo del Duomo. But there is still plenty to see, with its stunning frescoes, carvings, and architecture.

Tuscan food is simple and relies heavily on local produce. Flavoursome cheeses and grilled meats feature widely. Beans are also a Tuscan staple. You can also expect beautiful floury bread, virgin olive oil, and steaks.

Purchase a lock and key and then fasten your lock to the Ponte Vecchio. Then throw your key into the Arno River. Legend has it that couples who go through this ritual will be locked together forever.

If you're in love and enjoy exceptional food and art, Florence is the city for you. Tread the narrow streets, walk along the river, and sample the internationally acclaimed food. This is a city you will return to year after year.
