Eight Glasses A Day: How To Lead A More Hydrated Lifestyle

Drinking enough water is a challenge that many of us fail miserably to rise to. In the summer it’s a lot easier – you get a lot warmer so it’s easier to remember that you’re sweating more and losing water. In the winter, though, it’s a lot harder to remind yourself to keep hydrated. The thing is, your body needs water: it keeps your joints lubricated, it protects your brain, and it regulates your body temperature, and if you become dehydrated, then you might have to deal with headaches, dizziness and fatigue. Here are some tips on how to add more hydration to your everyday life.

Add Flavour To Your Water

If you don’t really like the taste of water then you could try infusing it with different flavours. Add your favourite flavours – if you love mojitos then go for mint and lime. You could also go with red berries like strawberries and raspberries, or citrus flavours like lemon and orange. If you want to move towards herbs, why not try lavender for a slightly different and more relaxing taste?

Get A Water Filter

If you live in a city and you have hard water – which means it’s infused with calcium carbonate thanks to chalk and limestone deposits – then you might not particularly enjoy the taste of your water. However, you might not want to have to flavour it every time. If that’s the case for you, then why not look for water filter jugs? They’ll improve the taste of the water while removing any gross chemicals, and they’ll also stop you from having to buy bottled water.

Drink Water Before Every Meal

If you drink some water before you eat, then not only will you improve your body’s hydration but you’ll also make sure that you don’t eat too much because the water will fill you up.

Make Sure You Moisturise

Remember that your skin is an organ and that skin cells are made up mostly of water, so if you want bright clear skin then you need to keep hydrating it. Use moisturiser before you put on your makeup every day, and go for a night cream and eye cream before you go to bed at night. Use it on your d├ęcolletage and hands as well as your face, to fight off signs of ageing.

Give Yourself Deadlines

If you have a water bottle that you use every day, why not give yourself deadlines that you need to adhere to by marking up the bottle with the levels that you need to have got to by a certain time? Not only will it remind you that you have to keep drinking water through the day, but it’ll also provide a certain challenge that might make it more fun and interesting for you.

Add It To Your Daily Routine

If you add drinking water to your daily routine then it’ll be easier to remember to do. For example, drink a glass of it after you’ve brushed your teeth in the morning. It might not have any caffeine in it, but it should wake you up pretty effectively.
